We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal information.
1. Who we are
Dream Chaser Elite ("Dream Chaser Elite", "we", "us" or "our") provides youth basketball skills training in Santa Barbara and Goleta, California, led by founder and head coach Jelani Hicks. This policy applies to the website at dreamchaserelite.com, to the forms on it, and to the email and text messages we send.
"You" means a visitor to this site, or the parent or legal guardian of an athlete who trains with us, or an adult who trains with us.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact information. Parent or guardian name, email address and, if you choose to give one, a mobile phone number. Providing a phone number is optional.
- Athlete information. Athlete name, age or grade, school or team, experience level, training goals and any health or injury notes you choose to share so that coaches can train safely. For youth athletes this information is provided by a parent or guardian.
- Enrollment and payment details. The program or membership you choose and your billing details. Card information is entered into and held by our payment processor. We never store full card numbers on our own systems.
- SMS consent records. Whether you ticked an SMS consent checkbox, which one, and when, so that we can prove and honor your choice.
- Communications. Messages you send us by form, email or text, and our replies.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data. Pages visited, the page or ad that referred you, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, and the steps you complete in a form. Section 7 explains the cookies and analytics tools involved.
3. How we use your information
- Answering inquiries and booking free trial and evaluation sessions
- Enrolling athletes, scheduling training and sending reminders and schedule changes
- Processing payments and managing memberships
- Coaching athletes safely and tracking their progress
- Sending program updates and promotions, only where you have opted in
- Measuring and improving our website and advertising
- Meeting legal, tax and safety obligations
4. Text messaging
How we get consent
We text a mobile number only when the owner of that number has ticked an SMS consent checkbox on a form on this site: the contact form at /contact, the free trial form at /free-trial, or the enrollment form at /enroll. The checkboxes are unticked by default and are never required to submit a form. Providing a phone number is optional, and a phone number on its own, without a ticked consent checkbox, does not opt you in to text messages. We never buy, rent or import phone numbers or SMS consent from a third party list.
What we send
There are two separate opt-ins, ticked separately.
- Transactional messages. Booking confirmations, session reminders, schedule changes, replies to your inquiry, and payment or account notices.
- Marketing messages. Program updates, camp, clinic and event announcements, and occasional promotions.
Opting in to one does not opt you in to the other. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing any training, membership or other service from us.
Frequency and cost
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply, and those charges come from your mobile carrier, not from us.
Opting out
Reply STOP to any message to stop texts from us. Reply HELP for help, or contact us at jelani@dreamchaserelite.com or . After you reply STOP we will send one message confirming that you have been unsubscribed, and no further texts. Opting out of texts does not affect your training or your membership.
Carrier liability
Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Never shared for marketing
Mobile numbers, SMS opt-in data and consent are never sold, rented or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Section 6 sets this out in full.
5. Third party services and sharing
We share only what each service provider needs to do its job for us. We do not sell your personal information. The categories of providers we use are:
- Payment processing. A payment processor that takes card payments and manages recurring billing.
- Customer management, scheduling and messaging. The software we use to store contact records, book sessions and deliver our emails and text messages.
- Website hosting and analytics. The services that host this site and measure how it is used, described in section 7.
- Maps. When you view the location map on this site, the map images are loaded from a mapping provider, which receives your IP address and browser details in order to deliver them. No form details are sent to it.
- Professional advisers. Accountants, insurers and lawyers, where needed to run the business.
We may also disclose information where required by law, or to protect the safety of an athlete, a coach or the public. If the business is ever sold or reorganized, customer records may transfer to the successor, which must continue to honor this policy.
Mobile numbers and SMS consent are excluded from everything in this section. They are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. See section 6.
6. No sharing of SMS opt-ins
The rule
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Excluded from all sharing
Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are excluded from every category of information sharing described in section 5. This information is not shared with any third party.
Delivery is the only exception
Your mobile number is passed to the messaging provider that physically delivers our messages on our behalf. That provider may use it only to deliver our messages, never for its own marketing.
No sale, ever
We do not sell, rent or trade mobile numbers, SMS opt-in data or consent records to anyone, for any purpose, at any time.
7. Cookies and analytics
- Meta pixel. This site uses the Meta (Facebook and Instagram) pixel, which sets cookies and reports page views and form completions to Meta so that we can measure our advertising and show our ads to relevant audiences. Where a form is completed, contact details may be matched with Meta in hashed form for ad measurement. SMS opt-in data and consent are never sent to Meta.
- First-party funnel analytics. We record our own anonymous session identifier, the pages you view, the form steps you complete, and any ad campaign tags in the link that brought you here, so that we can see which pages and ads are working. This data is used by us and by the service provider that operates our website and customer management software on our behalf.
- Essential storage. The site may use browser storage to remember your progress through a form during a visit.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can manage ad preferences in your Meta account. The site still works with cookies blocked. We honor Global Privacy Control signals as an opt-out of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, as described in section 12.
8. Children's privacy
Most of our athletes are minors, but this website and its forms are intended for parents, legal guardians and other adults aged 18 or over. Forms must be completed by a parent or guardian, and information about a youth athlete is provided by that parent or guardian.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13, and we do not send text messages to or market to minors. We collect only what is needed to train an athlete safely and to communicate with their family. If you believe a child has given us information without a parent or guardian involved, contact us and we will delete it.
A parent or guardian may review, correct or delete their athlete's information at any time by contacting us.
9. Photo and video
We may take photos and video during training sessions, camps and events, both for coaching and for use in our own content. You can tell us at any time that you do not want your athlete to appear in our content, and you can ask us to take down a specific photo or clip. We will remove it from anything we control. Our Terms of Service say more about media.
10. Data retention
We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy, or as long as required for tax, insurance and legal records. Inquiry records that never become an enrollment are deleted or anonymized once they are no longer useful. SMS consent and opt-out records are kept for as long as needed to prove and honor your choice. Ask us to delete your information and we will, keeping only what the law requires us to hold.
11. Security
We use encrypted connections, reputable service providers and access controls that limit athlete and family information to the people who need it. Payment card data is handled entirely by our payment processor. No system is perfectly secure, so if a breach ever affects your information we will notify you as the law requires.
12. California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), gives you the rights summarized below. We extend these rights to every California resident who asks, whether or not the law strictly requires it of a business our size.
- Right to know. Ask what personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, why we use it and who we disclose it to.
- Right to delete. Ask us to delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Right to correct. Ask us to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information. Our use of the Meta pixel may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. You can opt out by enabling Global Privacy Control in your browser, by blocking cookies, or by contacting us. Mobile numbers and SMS consent are never part of any such sharing.
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information. We use health or injury notes only to train athletes safely, and not to infer characteristics about anyone.
- Right to non-discrimination. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
The categories of personal information we collect are identifiers and contact details, athlete information provided by a parent or guardian, commercial information about enrollments and payments, and internet activity on this site. Sections 2, 3 and 5 describe the sources, purposes and recipients. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
To make a request, email jelani@dreamchaserelite.com. We will verify your identity using information we already hold, and respond within 45 days. You may use an authorized agent with written permission. California's "Shine the Light" law also lets residents ask about disclosures of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing. We make no such disclosures.

- Unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in any message
